Description | Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and psychological constructs as they apply to education and the complementary aspects of teaching and learning. Education is viewed as a lifelong process and learners gain an insight into current debates, literature and research in the area of teaching and learning. – Exploring Educational Psychology: – Learning and Teaching Today – Linking psychology with teaching and learning – The history of educational psychology – Research in educational psychology – Research methods in psychology applied to education. – Theoretical frameworks/concepts and their implications for Teaching and Learning: – Behavioural Perspective – Cognitive Perspective – Social Cognitive Perspective – Constructivist Perspective. – Educative Process: – Motivation; interest; attitude; thinking; reasoning; problem solving – Learning Environments; classroom climate; institutional/organisational; group dynamics; rewards/punishments/guidance/counselling -Positive environments -Learning resources; selection of learning resources; technology, media and education -Special Education Teaching and Assessing: -Learning outcomes and learning objectives -Psychological and educational assessments -Standardised tests; measurement and assessment; the role of feedback; formative and summative assessments; alternatives to traditional assessments; effects of grading on learners.
