Dr Neto is an Italian-Brazilian with extensive experience and training as a Clinical Psychologist and PhD Psychology Researcher. Her main interest is the intersection of child education and child mental health, especially for the provision of Special Needs Education. Her work isunderpinned by child-centred principles. She completed her PhD in University College Dublin in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the UCD School of Medicine in collaboration with UCD School of Psychology. Her PhD examined ADHD in children. Dr Neto has been sharing her clinical and research expertise in the training of Montessori teachers as a Psychology lecturer and Head of Research in St Nicholas Montessori College.
Dr Neto finished her BA in Psychology in 2007. In 2008, she started her training in Clinical Psychology in public mental health services as part of her postgraduate study in Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) in Brazil, a psychosocial clinical training programme with a psychoanalytic theoretical approach.
In 2009, she started her clinical psychology public practice as part of a multidisciplinary team in a mental health service. In 2012, she obtained her MA in Psychopathology and Mental Health from the University of São Paulo in Brazil and she completed an internship training at “School of the Bridge” in Vila das Aves, Portugal, a primary public school with an educational philosophy based on the “pedagogy of freedom”of Paulo Freire. In 2013, she had her training in Italy atIter& Il Ponte social cooperative offering psychological support for young people and adults with learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
