Re: Closure of St. Nicholas Montessori College of Ireland

St. Nicholas Montessori Society is no longer in a position to continue delivering its Higher Education provision, including the B.Ed. in Montessori Education at Level 7 and 8 and the B.A. Hons in Psychology Level 8 formerly offered by the College.

The Society’s schools, early years settings and after school services will continues as normal. The St. Nicholas Montessori Teachers’ Association will also continue to support Montessori teachers across Ireland with its suite of continuing professional development, workshops and mentoring sessions.

Teaching and Learning will continue at the College until the end of the academic year 2023/24. All learners who have completed the Level 7 or Level 8 programme at the end of this academic year will graduate as normal. Learners who have not completed their programmes are being facilitated to transfer to similar programmes with other QQI accredited providers.

We will not be enrolling new learners in September 2024. As a result, we have withdrawn our programmes from the CAO. We will not be accepting applications via direct entry to any of our programmes.

From September 2024, our BA (Hons) in Psychology will be delivered by Griffith College, a long established and respected academic institution that has operated in Irish higher education for the past fifty years. For applicants seeking to apply for Psychology via the CAO, you can include Griffith’s psychology degree on your application by simply selecting CAO Course Code GC409.

The only other Montessori specific Early years degree approved by the QAB is the B.Ed. in Montessori Education at MTU (Cork Campus). More details can be found here.
