Our College was originally founded as a College to deliver Montessori teacher training. In addition to intellectual development, the Montessori approach values and nurtures all aspects of each person’s unique development, including social, behavioural, emotional and spiritual. Our programmes promote 21st Century learning skills including creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration and communication, initiative and self-direction, leadership and responsibility, and adaptability. These qualities are highly sought after by many employers across different sectors. You will also learn how to engage with people effectively and be able to discuss topics clearly. Communication is a critical element of our daily lives, and good interpersonal skills are beneficial for job interviews and workplace relationships.
Career Focussed Programmes
Our programmes prepare you to secure your first job post graduation and also to navigate the many steps along the path to career success. Graduates of many of our programmes earn both an academic award and professional recognitoin from a relevant professional body such as the Psychological Society of Ireland. These professional recognition bodies are your gateway to further study and to success in your chosen career whether at home or aborad. All of our programmes, from Certificate to Honours degree level, are designed to meet a recognised skills shortage and to give you the best possible chance of employment post graduation.
Easy Payment Plans or SUSI funding
Our fees are in line with other independent Higher Education Institutions which reflect the full cost of programme delivery without government support. We are unique as an independent College in that we are a recognised insitutions for the purposes of SUSI grant funding. Students on all of our full time programmes can apply for SUSI funding. For those that are paying fees we offer a range of payment plans, including monthly direct debit, and fees can be offset against tax subject to revenue rules.
Flexible Blended Approach
All of our courses are supported by Moodle and in that sense they are all blended. The SMSI blend includes face to face classes, live online webinars, online self study and activities and online readings and texts. All programmes now include live online lectures as part of the teaching and learning blend. This means that you will have greater flexibility to organise your life around your studies whether you are a full time or part time learner. Our part-time programmes tend to involve more online study, while full time courses tend to be more classroom based.
