Montessori education encourages children to develop 21st century skills. These include critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication. Ensuring that children have the skills they need to succeed in the digital age is one of the most important issues for 21st century education.
The 6 – 12 Curriculum
Your child’s future begins here
The 6-12 curriculum presents children with a full range of subject areas, including mathematics, language, the arts, sciences, and social sciences. The curriculum is much broader than many national curricula.
The materials and exercises for each subject area help children construct a mental order. Rather than discrete subject areas, the educational disciplines are presented to children in the form of an interconnected, interrelated, and open-ended curriculum. The children are shown how each topic is related to other topics in the same subject area and to other subjects.
“Our aim is not merely to make the child understand, and still less to force him to memorize, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse him to his innermost core.”
“If schooling were evidence based, I think all schools would look a lot more like Montessori schools.”
“The education of even a small child . . . does not aim at preparing him for school, but for life.”
